Media Watch: 'One regulator to rule them all...'

    1. Julian Disney: ... many organisations are government funded without in any way being thought to be subservient to governments. It's a question of how much and it's a question of whether they have any role in appointing people, and we don't support that at all. (ABC Radio National, Breakfast with Fran Kelly, 15th September, 2011)
    2. Jonathon Holmes: Well, maybe. Far better that, in my opinion, than giving a state regulator like ACMA authority over newspapers and bloggers. Many of you, I'm sure, will disagree. But I'd rather put up with unfairness, and inaccuracy, and bias, than see a statutory authority play policeman over the press.
